PORN ADDICTION
What is porn addiction?
In today’s culture, the sheer quantity and prevalence of pornographic websites and images on the available on the Internet is difficult to ignore.
The main reason Pornography addiction has become a problem in North America is due to the ease of finding and browsing adult sites online.
The effect this has on individuals with sex and pornography addictions is huge and porn is becoming an even larger problem in the new world.
According to OnlinePsychologyDegree.net:
- 40% of sex addicts lose their spouses.
- 58% of sex addicts suffer considerable financial losses.
- One-third of sex addicts lose their jobs.
Sadly, the effects of pornography use is now showing an increase in marital infidelity rates by more than 300%, 56% of divorce cases involved one spouse with “an obsessive interest in pornographic websites,” and severe clinical depression was reported twice as frequently among Internet pornography users compared to non-users.
Out of all the different types of sexual addictions, porn addiction is the one that is most commonly reported. Porn addiction, like many other addictions, becomes problematic when it interferes with your everyday life. The signs and symptoms of a porn addict are similar to those of drug and alcohol addicts.
A large percentage of people who are addicted to porn in any of its forms tend to experience difficulties in personal relationships. It is believed that this occurs because porn addicts tend to isolate themselves from friends, family and coworkers to continue the behaviours that fuel the addiction.
