Meet Dr. Suzie


Dr. Suzie Le Brocq has worked in the addiction treatment field for more that 20 years with stops in Europe, North America & the South Pacific. Pioneering her career in Drug and Substance Abuse Counselling and street level care, she has trained in the UK, US and Canada. Dr. Suzie is a PhD level Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor (having supervised over 40 CSAT’S), a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT-S), a Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC) and a Canadian Clinical Supervisor – Addiction Counselling (CCS-AC).

Dr. Suzie Le Brocq is a Master Practitioner in Clinical counselling. Dr. Suzie Le Brocq is also a member of the Canadian College of Professional Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

Dr. Suzie Le Brocq completed her PhD in Clinical Sexology as is a Board-Certified Sex Therapist. Working in different countries has expanded her global knowledge base and provided her with exposure to many different and diverse populations, races, cultures, and treatment philosophies.

That said, she works primarily with a trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral model of therapy, focusing on the relationship between a person’s thinking, emotions, and behaviors. This is the approach that has proven most effective with addictions of all types.

Maria Enright-Castejon M.A, Adv. Dip in Humanistic Counselling, CCC-Q, CSAT, RPC, Counselling Therapist # 1213, EMDR Trained

Maria holds a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA). Maria is presently registered with The Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), is a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC), as well as being a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT).

Maria has over 10 years of experience in Canada and the United Kingdom in a wide variety of areas within the addiction and mental health fields including: addictions and mental health counselling in both acute and ambulatory care settings, addictions and mental health counselling in residential treatment centers, intensive case management, support services for diverse populations and practice within the criminal justice system.

Maria’s focus of her counselling style is strength based, holistic and integrative approach. Maria’s theoretical approaches are drawn from a Person – Centered, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) framework.

Maria combines both her lived experience and passion for the QTBIPOC community to provide compassionate, supportive, and culturally informed care for all individuals she has the privilege of walking alongside in practice.

Maria is fluent in English and Tagalog and is happy to provide counselling services in these languages to best serve the diverse populations that she engages with. In her free time Maria enjoys spending time with her wife, family and new puppy. Maria also enjoys exploring the outdoors and connecting with nature, and attending drag shows and other events within the queer community.


Angela Eddy, BHSc, RP, CCAC, CSAT, CPTT, CCPS-C, EMDR

Angela has a Bachelor’s degree (BHSc) in Addictions Counselling from Lethbridge University and has been certified as a Sex Addition Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction (IITAP) and holds the Certified Partner and Trauma Therapist (CPTT) designation. She is also registered as a Psychotherapist, (RP) and with the Canadian Certified Addictions Counsellor (CCAC). During her work with the tobacco unit in Alberta she additionally became a certified as a Tobacco Educator (CTE).

Angela believes people can lead a healthy productive and well balanced life and counts it her privilege to take to support people during their journey.


Sunday Abidogun, MA, CSAT-CMAT, CPC

 

With several years of psychotherapy experience, Sunday uses an integrative approach which includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Biopsychosocial approach to help his clients.

He is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CSAT, CMAT). Sunday trained with the renowned International Institute of Addiction and Trauma Professionals (IITAP). He has conducted extensive research on sex addiction and partner trauma.

Sunday also provides therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, loss, anger management, stress management and addictive behaviours. He specializes in compulsive sexual behaviour disorder and intimate betrayal trauma. He is passionate about supporting individuals and families who are struggling with substance use disorders or addictions and other behavioural issues through employee assistance programs (EAP) and group therapy.

Sunday can also be contacted for counselling and coaching by individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities who would like to integrate their faith or values in therapy sessions.

He has travelled extensively across Africa, Europe and North America and he loves to immerse himself in the communities and cultures of the places he visited. When Sunday is not working, you will find him volunteering in his church and multicultural communities. He also enjoys, reading, listening to music, and taking road trips with his family.


Beata Falkowska, MACP, BA CYC, CCC, ACTA, DBT, CSAT-C

 

My name is Beata, I'm Canadian of Polish origin. I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescence, and adults in Canada. I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology with the department of Behavioral Science. I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and I am an active member of Alberta Counselling Therapist Association. I have been working in a field of addiction for 13 years with the last few years specializing in supporting people with addiction and emotional regulation. I use Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as my primary modality. In addition to DBT, I utilize Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Informed Trauma, and Motivational Interviewing. I completed a DBT Comprehensive Intensive Training with the Behavioural Tech - Linehan Training Institute. I am presently working towards my Sex Addition Therapist Certification (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction (IITAP). I accept and value each person as a unique individual. I strive to create an environment where people can develop skills for handling difficult emotions and unhelpful habits.


Jeff Whitehead, MSW, RCSW, CSAT

Jeff Whitehead is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience specializing in mental health and addiction treatment. Based near Calgary, Alberta, he holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary, where his focus was on treating complex mental health and addiction disorders. Jeff is certified as a Sexual Addiction Therapist and Multiple Addiction Therapist through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). His clinical work spans over 15 years having worked in various community and private settings where he provides evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals and families affected by a range of mental health and addiction challenges. In addition to his clinical practice, Jeff has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Social Work, providing mentorship and field education to graduate students pursuing their Master’s degrees.


Shirley Kidd, CACCF, ASAT, CBT

Shirley is a Certified Addictions Counsellor accredited through the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Federation (CACCF). Shirley is also an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist (ASAT) accredited through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction.  Shirley is currently completing her supervised practicum as part of her Master’s in Counselling Psychology. Shirley is currently registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO) as a qualifying psychotherapist. In 2015, she started working in the addiction field and incorporated the behavioural addiction field to her practice in 2019.  Although her theoretical perspective is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), she uses an eclectic approach that includes Narrative and Solution Focus perspectives. This allows for a more open concept in therapy to explore what perspective works for you. She is committed to providing her clients with a safe, collaborative space to work through their goals and treatment plans. Behavioural change is challenging, and your recovery hinges on your dedication to it. She would be happy to support you through your difficulties and help you on the road to recovery!
